Heren 1 maakt het bloedstollend spannend

Heren 1 nam het afgelopen weekend op tegen Tonegido, dat ook bovenin meedoet. En wat werd het spannend! Lees hier het verslag van de mannen.

Heroic comeback from US1 made up for miserable match

Tonegido visited Amsterdam on Saturday for a match between the two top teams in the competition. The team from Hippolytushoef (How on earth do you pronounce that?) is known for their physical style and this was proven in Sporthal de Pijp. Their slow game and strong defense kept frustrating the young home side who did mistake after mistake. This saw the visitors heading into the break leading 12-10.

The problems continued in the second half. No rhythm offensively and plenty of two minute suspensions meant US were constantly facing an uphill battle. With 45 seconds left, Tonegido were leading 23-20 and things were looking really bad. Luckily, the home team was able to pull something magical out of the hat and managed to salvage a draw (23-23). Ralph had the pleasure of scoring the deciding penalty with three seconds left.

A point from this match was ok given the quality of the performance and the fact that a close competitor was denied two points. Apart from that, there were not a lot of positives and improvement is needed sooner rather than later.
